My Students

The magic of technology needs to embrace my students!!

I am a second grade teacher in a Title I school located in the Bronx, New York.

My school is an overcrowded, inner city school, with over 1200 students from grades k-5. I am a second grade special education teacher and work with students that have a variety of disabilities. I have found that technology has been a great tool to reach my students because it is engaging and allows for the lessons to be differentiated to meet the needs of all of my students. Unfortunately there are not enough computers in the building for my students to have an opportunity to do this.

My Project

My students need an Apple MacBook laptop in order to create digital storytelling.

I would like to excite and motivate my students through technology, specifically with an Apple MacBook.

Projects that require creative graphics simply cry out for an Apple computer. Imagine a computer that can help a five-year-old write and illustrate their own books.

The MacBook computer would greatly benefit my students. I need a computer that can be versatile. We need to create many things including slideshows, videos, and colorful charts. Also, the computer would be used towards our new reading program which is based on using the computer to increase comprehension.

Apple makes computers that are built to withstand the use of many little hands, therefore it will last for many years.

Plus, students are taught using Apple computers, so they have a solid working knowledge of that computer. As an added benefit, Apple computers are made for easy use, there is limited updating and all the programs are incredibly easy to understand. Please make it possible for my awesome and creative students to have access to this computer
