I teach 100 seventh graders. They are "too cool for school" and usually have to be coerced into learning. Once their interest is piqued, they never cease to amaze me with their ability to learn. They have the ability to become content experts and have even taught me a thing or two.
My students want their education to be relevant and mirror real-life experiences.
I want to give them the opportunity to shine. Together, we are a most excellent team.
My Project
We just finished a huge project involving raising Monarch butterflies from eggs to release in an effort to help our community support the waning Monarch population. As an agricultural community, these pollinators are important! The culminating experience for my students involved official planting our own milkweed garden in a local park and having it designated as an official Monarch way station with Monarchwatch.org.
As my students now process this project, I want them to take their presentation on the road throughout our school.
This requested Roku enabled smart TV and cart will allow us to tell our story digitally (in this day and age, this is a necessity) as we travel from classroom to classroom. Students will be compiling photos and video clips into a short documentary, chronicling their process and progress. We need a way to display that presentation without having to rely on our hosts for a projector.
