My Students
My students are so excited to start getting hands-on STEAM experiences in our new Innovation Lab. We will delve into 3D printing, robotics, and programming, as well as many other hands-on projects. It is so fun to watch their faces light up when they see the results of their own creations.
The students are curious and creative, imaginative, and innovative.
I love hearing their new ideas. We are a diverse school with many cultures and languages, and STEAM experiences are great at bringing everyone together for a common goal.
My Project
My students enjoy programming with Bee Bots, Wonder Robots and Spheros. We have some blank robot mats that the students would like to customize for specific programming challenges.
Having the students create their own mat designs on the iPads will teach them great basic graphic design skills and get them even more excited about coding challenges.
The drawing apps on the iPads are simple enough for even the youngest students to use, and it really makes the activities more personal for them. By designing entire mats, or just one grid square at a time, having personalized mats engages the students into really caring about the robot challenges.
