This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remote learning has been a huge adjustment for my students. As a teacher of an autism support classroom, my students rely on structure, routine, and consistency throughout their day to be able to perform their best on academic tasks. The school structure, routine, and consistency has been completely taken away from them as we finish the year through remote learning. They do not have access to the visuals, hands-on activities, behavior supports, and personnel supports that they require to be able to learn new academic concepts without experiencing extreme frustration.

My students not only have to overcome many difficulties that autism presents while learning and working in a new environment, but many of them also struggle with obtaining the resources necessary to access materials in the way they learn best.

Our school is a Title I school in which 77% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced-rate lunches. Many of our families do not have the resources (pencils, paper, computer access, internet access, etc.) they need to continue instruction at home. Our students need your support to be able to access materials, and sometimes even food, to be able to continue their education through this difficult time.

My Project

By donating to the gift cards for Teachers Pay Teachers, I will be able to pick out specific resources and visuals that my students need to be successful while learning from home. My students range from second grade to fifth grade, all with varying abilities for each subject. I strive to provide the best instruction I can at the level my students are at. Digital learning has forced me to create many resources in a variety of formats in order to give my students what they need.

The resources bought off Teachers Pay Teachers will allow me to provide my students with autism the individualized instruction they need to continue learning at home.

By purchasing specific materials for my students, I would be able to immediately provide them with what they need. Some resources I am interested in are by The Stellar Teacher Company, more specifically, the Reading Strategies Anchor Charts and Posters for Digital Learning and the Math Posters for third, fourth, and fifth grades. These posters would provide me a way to give my students specific visuals on what we are learning!
