This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning I check in with my second graders to see how they are feeling and see if they have questions on this week's online assignments on Google Classroom. Although this transition from in-class learning to virtual learning has been difficult, my students are hard workers and motivated to reach their goals.

I teach in a primarily immigrant and working class neighborhood in Los Angeles.

My students come from very supportive families who are involved and concerned. They are helping their children daily on online assignments during this pandemic.

My Project

When I left my school on March 13, 2020 I didn't realize the impact of the Coronavirus and the changes that would take place within my traditional teaching. Google Classroom was the online platform I decided to use for my second-grade class. In a short amount of time, I was able to get most of my students online and working on assignments ranging from reading comprehension and math to science and social studies. Now my students need additional resources for learning online at home.

A Teachers Pay Teachers gift card would give me the opportunity to purchase amazing digital resources that could be used immediately.

Reading comprehension materials through Teachers Pay Teachers developed for Google Classroom would be very beneficial for my students to continue developing their fluency and comprehension. Also, my students are studying landforms in science, and digital resources could help their understanding of this material.

This project for Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will allow me to purchase resources that will last for years.
