I need funding to attend the Digital Promise Monterey Challenge Institute so I am able to implement Challenge Based Learning with my second grade students and train other teachers in my building and district.

My Students

I teach Second grade in a Title I low income school district. In Middletown, Ohio. 100 percent of these students receive free breakfast and lunch. My classroom consists of 30% English Language Learners. Our students come from diverse backgrounds. We aim to provide opportunities to all students.

My goal is to provide equity and new experiences to my students they might not otherwise have.

We love to use technology and STEAM to add hands on learning to our daily instruction.

My Project

This summer I will attend the Digital Promise Challenge Institute in Monterey, California. The Digital Promise Challenge Institute is a fully immersive, hands-on, unique professional learning experience for educators and education leaders.

Attending this conference will provide me the opportunity to learn engaging and effective strategies to provide new experiences for my unique learners.

At the institute I will work in a small team to develop solutions. I will gain experience with Challenge Based Learning and be ready to put these ideas to work with my second grade students and peers next year.

I am excited for the opportunity to attend the Challenge Institute to learn more about Challenge Based Learning so that I can implement this innovation with my students during the next school year.
