Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 18 amazing first-grade students that are full of life and excitement for learning. More importantly, I have been blessed to have kind, resilient students during such a difficult year. Students in my classroom are compassionate and avid readers and writers as well as very into science and love using their creativity for their learning. Each day my students are constantly eager to come in to know what we are learning and view it on the smartboard. We work on setting goals for ourselves as readers and writers as well as scientists, mathematicians, and social beings in the world. These students are very tech-savvy and understand all of the ins and outs of utilizing technology from their homes. However, in school, we worked extremely hard to integrate tech as much as possible into our traditional curriuculum.
My Project
During these very difficult times of the Coronavirus, our students are forced to be sitting in rows behind plexiglass which in turn affects my ability to teach them. Usually, as a first-grade teacher, we have the kids able to see the screen from the rug. However, this year due to social distancing, students are not able to sit on a rug. This makes it very challenging for students sitting about 18-20 feet from the board. This laptop would help to project learning in reading, as well as writing and math. This laptop would also be an immense help because we have been virtual before and have to use our personal computers to download, run various programs, as well as present various topics. Students will have access to materials and see things from their seats. The students would absolutely love to be able to see and interact with this laptop and all the things that can be made specifically for them!
