I teach kindergarten in a diverse area of Sacramento, CA. My students come from all types of backgrounds and are accepting of everyone. Because many of them come from different backgrounds they also come to me with varying amounts of school, academic knowledge, and socio-emotional knowledge. It is my job to make sure each of them receives what they need to be proficient in both of these areas.
My scholars are the newest to our school and are eager to learn.
They are also digital natives. Each of them knows how to use multiple types of devices and enjoy learning through technology. Because of this I would like to provide multiple ways to learn for my scholars which is why I am doing this project.
My Project
These iPads will enhance the learning of all our youngest scholars. With them, our scholars will be able to complete lessons designed specifically for them during small group and literacy center time. Everything from fine motor skills, to reading and math, and music and the arts students will get a chance to learn through technology. Not every student learns the same way and iPads make it easy for each scholar to get what they need when they need it.
It is important for our youngest learners to have a chance to learn in a way they already find fascinating and fun!
Not only that, they will begin to learn digital citizenship which is extremely important for this generation of digital natives. Scholars will also learn what it takes to be responsible and care for devices independently. We can't wait to start incorporating technology into our literacy and math centers as well as our small group instruction!
