My students need a digital camera and tripod to document their study of living organisms. We are comparing structures of organisms in each kingdom and creating our own tree of life.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. L.'s classroom raised $296
This project is fully funded
I teach 7th grade science in a growing suburban town. Our community has a lot of apartments with families constantly moving in and out of the area. Our district focuses on improving scores in math and reading, sometimes leaving science and technology waiting.
Life is full of discoveries and science class is the best place to explore. Students will remember lessons that they experience better than just reading in the textbook. Students also embrace technology, it is a standard in their world.
I plan to combine these interests by having students take digital pictures of local animals and plants. They will then create slide shows documenting the similarities and differences within each kingdom. I believe this will have a profound impact on their connecting the book facts with real life. Instead of creatures from another part of the world, my students will have documented local creatures that fit each genera.
You can make a difference in my classroom learning environment. I teach 4 classes a day, so almost 100 students will benefit from use of the camera, creating our tree of life. Imagine the delighted looks on their faces as they produce their own slide show featuring creatures from their backyard. I can feel the excitement already.
