My Students

I am anticipating this year's students after a long break away from in-person teaching. It is very exciting and worrisome. Each year brings new challenges and new rewards. I look forward to both.

I teach in a small rural community in a town of 1200 with small farms surrounding the area.

The students I teach are of diverse socioeconomic groups. I have some students that have what appears, all the advantages, but there are many families who live without running water. My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds but they always play and work together.

I believe in these students and want to give them all possible opportunities to learn safely. The joy I get from seeing a student having that “aha” moment when they really get it is amazing. I believe in my students and I want them to believe in themselves, a major component to this is keeping the school a safe and healthy environment for them to learn.

My Project

Like all teachers, I am concerned about my students’ learning. We are currently teaching in-person classes but at any moment we know this can change and could be moved to online learning.

Online instruction has to be very carefully chosen to ensure that learning will continue with minimal disruption.

I’ve been searching for instructional materials that can easily be moved online. The material needs to be motivating, easily accessible, and instructional. I’ve searched many places and found “Teachers Pay Teachers” online materials that will help my students continue to learn if we do have to move to online instruction. I found escape rooms for science, CSI Mystery for math, and online math practice to review core instruction

Digital Escape Room can be used for distance learning. Students will read informational text on core science topics. This resource is online and self-checking. Students won’t be able to escape the room unless they have the correct answers. Incorrect codes are prompted to try again!

Digital Math Mystery games are computer game-like experiences. That motivates students in independent learning by providing clues through correctly answering questions.

Online practice for the third-grade classrooms will help my students learn and understand common core third-grade skills.

In these uncertain times, it’s important to keep students on track in their learning. These online digital materials will help the 3rd-grade students at do just that. Thank you for your support!
