My Students
Students taking my 11th grade Advanced Algebra class represent diverse demographic groups. The majority of students are placed in my classes due to poor testing in pre requisite courses. Students in my classes have a long history of struggling with mathematics and start my classes with poor math efficacy.
In a typical semester, it is not uncommon that I teach migrant ESOL students and students receiving Special Education as well as 504 services.
Generally, my classes tend to be pretty evenly split between male and females with the majority of students eligible to receive Free and Reduced Lunch.
My Project
Donations to this project will support a 21st century learning environment within my mathematics classroom. Specifically the laptops and tablets provided by this project will be used to transition to a paper free digital classroom. Students will use the technology to create digital interactive notebooks, blogs, and wikispaces.
Using digital technology, students will be able to collaborate, create, and share the knowledge that they have gained in their Advanced Algebra class.
The ability to use technology to communicate knowledge is a critical skill in the modern workforce. Students who learn to use digital technology will be more prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation.
