Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is moving faster than a speeding bullet. Help me remove the kryptonite from my students!
My students attend a public school in Los Angeles.
The school consist of lower socio-economic students and students from military families who have little exposure to technology at home. My students are learning disabled and read and write at least two grade levels below their current grade. They are desperate to learn despite their few resources.
My Project
Bringing iPod nanos and an iPad into the classroom will greatly inspire my students to want to learn. The stories and music they will hear will help increase their vocabulary, comprehension, and literacy. Most of all it will increase their motivation. Learning centers will be created in the classroom where stories can be heard, while students follow the words displayed on the iPad and projected onto a screen.
An ipad and ipod will allow my students to access stories and use technology they normally could not on their own.
This will do far more than just increase their literacy. This will help propel them into this world of technology.
