Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have had tremendous struggles with distance learning: access to devices, lack of support at home and insufficient resources available via technology at their level.
This group of 16 special young people with intellectual disabilities read anywhere between kindergarten and 4th grade.
As a teacher, it has been a challenge for me to find materials for them to read that both interest them but are also accessible.
My Project
Since the fall may involve both remote and in person learning, I will need to create engaging lessons that can be presented both in person and remotely.
I need resources that will enable me to create multimedia presentations that will capture my kids' attention.
In addition, since I have no preset curriculum, I need to devise my own slides and worksheets, which is enormously time consuming. Remote learning, whether full or part time, is difficult and requires that I can engage my students, whether that means using presentations with graphics or interactive digital worksheets. Drawing my students in is half the battle and the Nearpod and Teachers Pay Teachers resources will help greatly!
