Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school's mission is to empower each student with global awareness, knowledge, skills and values necessary to make a better world. The school community plays an important role by providing a program of educational excellence which encourages all students to develop to their fullest potential. A balanced literacy program is one in which students participate in a variety of whole-group, small-group, and individual activities related to a wide range of reading and writing experiences essential to the promotion of early literacy. Our school's balanced literacy program focuses on guided reading, a focused reading group that is organized, structured, planned, and supported by the teacher. We serve students of all abilities ranging from special education to gifted and talented.
My Project
The requested iPads will assist with building skilled readers who are able to decode and comprehend texts. Math resources will help with basic math computation skills and help build number fluency. All of this, without even mentioning the benefits of exposing my students to technology skills that are beneficial for future careers. These iPads will allow access to an additional resource while giving students the power of unlocking their academic interests through literacy and math. These attitudes and profiles help develop internationally-minded students who become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others.
My students have the capacity to participate in the world around them while integrating technology.
My learners are digital natives who interpret and develop computer skills with much ease. Their visual-spatial skills seem to be well-developed because of their experience with video games, media, and the abundance of technology they are growing up with. My students learn better through discovery than simply being told information. They are curious and always in search of answers. This digital library will give them the opportunity to have a place to go to conduct research to fulfill their curiosity.
