This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school has 603 students. 505 of them (63%) receive free lunch and 129 (16%) receive reduced lunch. The school is located in a Title 1 district and services a military base as well as the local students.
The transient nature of our school culture directs us to create self-directed learning mindsets, using current technologies, that are applicable in a multitude of environments.
Students need to be able to solve problems in real-time with real-world applications. This means that they need a variety of tools to ensure their readiness to meet any challenge.
My Project
Virtual learning is a movement. We need digital engineers to pioneer this movement. Students have been making videos and recordings for years. From personal journals to recordings of them playing games. They are not strangers to the digital environment. Now they are being expected to learn and understand complicated curriculum through a previously entertainment only medium. That's where our students will excel.
When scrolling for entertainment, low-resolution imagery and poor sound quality are often key components to determine how interested a viewer is and whether they will gain anything meaningful from that experience.
For education, a low standard of excellence is unacceptable. Students need to be engaged from the beginning without such factors turning their interest away. Action videos go a long way to engaging them.
