My students need a digital weather station to collect data on temperature, rain amounts, wind speed, humidity, and wind direction.

My Students
Look out the window, did you ever wonder what the weather would be like today? My students can see what is happening at the moment, but their insatiable curiosity wants to know HOW do we predict weather. We can study the patterns by recording daily data with a digital weather station.
I teach 6th grade science in a public school in a growing suburban town.
Like many areas, our district is on a tight budget. Our district focuses on improving scores in math and reading, sometimes leaving science and technology waiting. Middle school students learn more by doing than reading, and science class is the perfect place to make discoveries.
My Project
The digital weather station will allow students to collect the data on temperature, air pressure, humidity, and rainfall. It will reinforce our math skills by graphing and charting data. This data will also reinforce reading and writing skills through making predictions about weather. Not only will my students learn about the properties of weather, but how to conserve our environment as we make real-world connections to the patterns of weather data, and movement of pollution across our planet.
This project will increase their awareness of how human actions impact nature.
They love to make a difference, and I hope they will become more environmentally friendly. You can help make this difference. Through your generosity they will become weather savvy and Eco-citizens!
