I teach diverse, inner city, school kids from all over the district. They are creative and energetic students who love technology. They know how to problem solve and work collaboratively on challenging problems. Everything they do builds into a presentable project or product. The students work on real work life skills to be ready for the world of work. They are also college prepped and bound. Students from my school are well prepared to be successful adults in the real world.
In a technology rich environment, students tend to not use notebooks or paper as much but they lose some of that reinforcement from it. At our school, our students have touchscreen Chromebooks and I want them to take mathematical notes on them. It is distracting to always have to find the right symbol or the right equation editor in any word processor. So the students would be able to use these styluses to write out their notes right into the computer.
Written notes on the computer will help reinforce the memorization of math and will always be there for the students to reflect upon.
They will also be able to use them for making all of the symbols and equations without extra distractions. Students will have the opportunity to create graphs and have them digitally added to there essays.
The two in one laptop is for me to model how to creates these notes and will be a useful tool to guide my students. I will be able to link it to the projection and guide students through the lesson from anywhere in the room. It will help eliminate distractions and allow students to present work from anywhere in the class.
