This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Excited, energetic, and economically disadvantaged elementary students are looking for ways to create their special projects. Are you looking for a school that will truly benefit from your kindness? We are the school for you! Our inner city, culturally diverse students love to learn but lack so many of the things they need to achieve the best education possible. We have endured severe budget cuts and use our paychecks to provide for the basic supplies necessary for our students. We need your help!
Our school suffered a setback when even the computers we had were stolen during transport to our building. We must help our students to discover the excitement of learning and creating projects that will show the community what we have learned.
We want to take pictures and print them so we can show the things we do for the community, our families and those who are interested. Pictures will help us prove what we have learned. We have a couple of digital cameras but we have no way to print out pictures for reports, projects or community bulletin boards. My students have become excited about using a camera for themselves but we cannot fund the cost of printing them out commercially. We have neither computer nor printer in our classroom so we cannot print using this method.
With this printer, students would be able to capture that special moment, the butterfly emerging from the chrysalis, the water quality test, the discovery of something and they could print it and post it for the community to see. These same pictures could be placed on project boards, made into buttons and displayed on a bulletin board for all to see. The process of photography and printing will give them skills that can be used in the work force and help them develop career skills as well. My students will have a better opportunity to apply for good high schools or other scholarship opportunities because they can create portfolios with pictures that give proof of the things they have accomplished.
You can make this possible with your generous donation. You can rest assured that you will have made a difference in the lives of deserving inner city children who will have a chance to learn technology and trade skills that will help them in future career options. Just learning to do something so many of us take for granted will make their lives more exciting. You can bring this joy of learning home to them by helping us fund our printing proposal. Please consider assisting us to reach this exciting goal. You will not regret helping us!
