My students come from a very low income/high poverty area where they face many different challenges both in their communities and inside their school. Many students have unique communication and processing needs. These students often need modifications and accommodations in order to be successful in their academics and social environments.
All of my students have Individualized Education Plans and need specialized instruction that includes assistive technology, alternative seating, special writing utensils, manipulatives, and other supports.
This year is a completely new year for us as we are teaching and learning virtually. My students benefit greatly from multi-sensory learning, and I want to provide as many resources for them as possible in this new adventure of ours.
I have requested gift cards for Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) because we are in a pandemic and the need for virtual/digital resources is very high. Many teachers are very crafty at creating digital activities and those can be found on TPT. I would like to purchase reading activities that include manipulating letters and words. Many of my students are working on beginning phonic skills and would greatly benefit from that. I would also like to purchase math activities that include manipulating numbers for number sense and computation skills. Many of my students are still working on foundational math skills. The gift cards would allow me provide more meaningful resources than the traditional paper and pencil.
