Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are individuals who are autistic and require individual supports to be successful in their academics and activities. With assistance, these students are able to show their true skills and passion for the arts. When given individualized attention to their needs and their individualized goals, my students are able to flourish and demonstrate skills that they have learned. Although they may face academic challenges, these students are full of potential and deserve exposure to many life skills that may increase their independent living skills.
My Project
During remote learning, my students were able to engage in a daily digital morning meeting experience, along with other learning material available on Nearpod. As an app that works great with Google Slides, I am able to customize and develop new learning lessons to present to my students on their tablets. By using these lessons on their devices, they are able to interact directly with the material being presented, as well as learn the skills of using electronic devices to communicate and learn.
Having a Gold membership to Nearpod allows me to customize my lessons and save my lessons.
Without Gold, I am not able to edit in Google slides, nor can I save more than 2 or 3 lessons. During the 3 month trial I was given, I created multiple assignments/lessons and kept my students engage during remote learning. Having this license will allow me to continue what was successful during remote learning while creating more interactive experiences for each student.
