Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students need to engage in their learning environments and show ownership of their classroom. This requires the classroom to reflect their achievements and personalities by using digital cameras to capture images of themselves engaged in learning activities and pictures that share their learning.
The population of my school is 99% Hispanic, with many parents speaking Spanish only, and many students struggling to learn two languages simultaneously and become bilingual in Spanish and English.
My school's community is made up of low-income, working families. My students are hard workers with a lot of potential for improvement. They enjoy learning and thrive on successful experiences in their education.
My Project
I would like to bring my students into the 21st century by teaching them to use digital cameras and a photo printer to express themselves in our classroom and record their learning experiences. By helping to fund four digital cameras and memory cards for my class, you would provide my students with the opportunity to learn how to use this technology as a tool to support and share their learning with each other. They will work in small groups to capture images of themselves engaged in learning projects, and to record their experiences. The photo printer and accessories will allow them to print their photos to post around the classroom and use in their projects and presentations. Using the technology will help them engage in the learning experiences and remember them long after the activity is over.
Your donation to this project will encourage my students to engage in their education, as they are learning relevant skills for using technology and incorporating their photos into daily learning and the classroom environment.
These are skills that clearly transfer into the real world and will continue to serve my students throughout their educational career and beyond.
