Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a diverse community of children with a high population of English Language Learners and students with special needs. Each year, I support between 25-30 students with specific learning disabilities including dyslexia at our school. My kiddos range from 2nd to 5th grade on my caseload with the need of intensive support in the area of reading intervention. Many of my students are reading 2 to 3 years below their grade level and have serve auditory and phonological processing deficits that prevents them from reading fluently. However, they come to my classroom every day with a positive attitude and give it their best. I meet them halfway by giving them the best quality education I can in hopes for them to work around their disability.
Due to the school closure many of my students lack the motivation, resources, and tools to continue learning at home.
I want to continue to foster their love for learning at home by giving them the encouragement and support they really need during this difficult time.
My Project
Learning from home is challenging for many of my students, and some feel frustrated or overwhelmed without the immediate support they are used to having at school. They need highly engaging activities, tools, and incentives to motivate them to attend and participate in my daily virtual lessons.
These requested materials will encourage my students to persist through difficult work and continue to hold a growth mindset.
The requested Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will give my students engaging and interactive digital activities to be used on our learning platform, the stylus will be used as a tool to help them complete the digital assignments, and the stickers will be used as incentives for completing a set of assignments. Most importantly, these materials will help my students continue to grow and learn at home during this difficult time.
