This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We live in a digital world, and I would like to give my students quick access to it. With these Kindles my students will be able to access the wealth of knowledge offered through the reading and researching of classic literature, philosophy and current events through digital means.
My wonderful 7th and 8th grade students attend one of the largest public schools in one of the largest cities in the United States.
They come from working class backgrounds and live in modern times. They are used to accessing information quickly and digitally. They live in a tech heavy world, but most lack access to the technology, which will help them succeed in high school, college, and career.
My Project
With these Kindles my students will be able to access classic literature, philosophy texts and many riches of print. The tools available on Kindles will allow them to look up definitions of words they are unfamiliar with, without drawing to much attention to themselves. They would be able to use the notes function to share ideas with their classmates and future students who chose to read the same books.
This project is so important not only to give my students access to these books, but also to show them that there is so much valuable information available through technology beyond video games and social media.
