This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very energetic 8 and 9year-olds who are excited about learning. They love to read and write and engage in conversations with their peers. They are eager to read both literature and nonfiction and write about what they’ve read. Many of my students began elementary school without foundational reading skills, but they have been working hard to attain grade-level standards. Most of my students are second language learners. Reading in the classroom is essential to their continued success!
My Project
My students have been learning at home since August. It is a priority for me to make their at-home learning as similar to the classroom as I can. My students are engaged in rigorous mathematical discussions daily and I need a tool to show their thinking.
My third graders are visual learners.
A drawing tablet would be extremely helpful in annotating their thinking and displaying strategies. My students learn from each other. If I were able to easily record their strategies and ideas and display it for all students, it would build the mathematical capacity of all of my students.
