Hello, I am a Visual Art Teacher at a public school with an Arts Integrated Curriculum. Our school is a typical urban public school: a lively, under resourced institution, where 45% of our students are eligible for the federal free lunch program.

My students are typical teenagers who are in love with electronic media. Having access to a digital camcorder would allow us to use their interests in electronic media for making Art in my classroom. We do not have the technology available at school to support their growth and development as digital artists.

My students need a digital camcorder to learn about filmaking. This medium is captivating for youth, engages them in ways that are exciting, and is a wonderful tool for education in general. The class sizes I teach are reasonably sized, and we could really do a lot with the moderately priced camera I am seeking funding for. Having a camcorder would drastically open the range of curriculum I'm able to offer.

Your donation will make it possible for my students to learn about a contemporary art medium that is very engaging to youth. Many of the students I work with are at-risk, and an innovative curriculum, based on their interests, is a tried and true way to engage students and keep them in school.
