This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are trying to expand the digital art and photography center in the art room. Previously, children have borrowed my phone for photos, or we had to try to borrow Chromebooks from general ed classrooms. It wasn't a reliable or sustainable system. This year, thanks to generous donations, we were able to get our first two tablets, and they were a HIT! Now that we know this is a success, my students deserve a functional, accessible center that will be ready to go any time they need it. An additional four tablets would allow an entire table to work together.

With your help, groups of students will be able to do stop-motion film lessons, create digital artwork, and take clear pictures of their physical artwork as well as learn how to upload them.

Having proper equipment allows interactive learning to occur and for kids to find enjoyment and passion in both! The completed center would have 6 tablets in kid-friendly cases; we already have tablet-holding tripods, a photobox, and props. I look forward to growing this center in the future as my students learn and develop their interests. My dream is for all of my young artists to have access to age appropriate methods of working with photography and digital art making. It also opens up more opportunities for students who want to enter art contests since they all require digital submissions.

My students are tomorrow’s graphic designers, photographers, art teachers, game designers, marketing team leads, etc and exposure to basic photography and digital artmaking can only benefit them on their paths.
