Digital Access Towards Information Equity: E-books Are the Answer
Help me give my students e-readers for research and pleasure reading in the library!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Brown's classroom raised $513

My Project
Bard High School Early College Queens is a public school that serves a diverse population of city kids from every borough of New York. Our library is a small one as we are located in a commercial building that was not initially intended as a school space.
We need e-readers to expand our collection, make it more accessible, and allow students to have access to titles that would otherwise be out of their grasp.
As a NYC public school, students have access to the Citywide Digital Library, but without a device to read it on, they are left to squint their eyes on their phones (if they are lucky enough to have them).
If we could provide e-readers in circulation for use within the library, then students could access e-books through the citywide library and the other public library systems that are accessible to them, including the NYPL, QPL and BPL. In addition to their usefulness as assistive technology for our students with disabilities, having access to these collections would greatly increase our students ability to access quality informational trade books, and to be able to read the latest new releases in fiction.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
