My Project

Our 2nd-grade students will be learning about paleontologists and fossils this quarter through their reading curriculum. They will read about Mary Anning, learn about how fossils form, and the different tools that paleontologists use when excavating.

This project will give students an opportunity to feel what it is like to be a paleontologist!

Students end the unit by writing a narrative about being a paleontologist and a special fossil they find. This project will help students as we would complete it before they write. Students will have an opportunity and a real-life experience of what it might be like, and how it might feel to actually be a paleontologist.
