My third grade students are all so unique! Our classroom is comprised of a wide-range of interests, personalities, and academic strengths and weaknesses. While it is impossible to encompass the energy of my classroom in a brief paragraph, my students and I love finding new ways to make our classroom environment engaging to help to continue to spread our love for learning. I am always looking for new ways to incorporate technology, flexible seating, and other new engaging resources into our classroom in order to make this dream a reality!
In my third grade classroom, I am always looking for new ways to teach my students to find the deeper meaning in the books they read. We have begun to have Socratic seminars in our classroom in order to help facilitate this goal.
These Socratic seminars are student-lead discussions about mentor texts that encourage my students to dive into their text, become confident in their ideas, prove their thoughts, and engage in respectful collaboration and conversations with their peers.
By having access to a multitude of mentor texts that we can base our seminars on, we will have the materials we need in order to make this a consistent activity in our classroom! I am requesting a wide range of literature titles to support our class Socratic seminars.
