Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and I believe that our purpose in going to school is to learn and challenge each other to "dig deeper" in order to learn all that we can. As a Google Classroom, my students use technology daily and another device for the classroom would help facilitate that learning.

Our 4th grade class includes 18 students this year; 6 boys and 12 girls.

They are inquisitive and excited about learning. Our two unit school is one of 14 elementary schools in Grand Island, Nebraska. As many students growing up in the Midwest, my students are busy in and out of school and always looking for ways to make learning fun. They enjoy using technology to practice skills, research information, and present their learning.

My Project

A Microsoft Surface tablet, keyboard, and pen would provide my students with another device to use - individually, for small group projects, and whole class activities. We use tablets and apps for student responses in the formative assessment process, for inquiry circles to research topics and present findings back to the group, for students to practice reading, writing, and mathematical skills, and to keep learning current, relevant, and engaging.

My students and I would very much appreciate donations for this project as it's successful completion would make another computer available for student use in our classroom on a daily basis.
