This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach English as a second language for a public school system. The school I work at is 100% free lunch. The students I work with are mainly from El Salvador. Some of them are separated from their families, and the rest who live with their families have very limited resources, but they love to learn and they are very appreciative to anything we give them at school (it could be something as simple as a sticker). Their families are hard labor workers, and they work for very long hours. But they do want the best for their kids and are also very appreciative to what we do with the kids at school.
I am also an immigrant to this country as well.
English is also my second language and that's how I connect to my students.
My Project
For our writing and reading class (we are currently on the topic of personal narrative), students need better access to the anchor charts. Students will utilize the poster holder and the portable dry-erase whiteboard to better access the anchor charts by having the charts close to where they sit and not having to squint at them from a far away spot on the wall that doesn't grab their attention.
As for the headphones, I have two Chromebooks and I want to use them as a reading center for the two low level readers I have in each of my groups.
