My students need 12 MP3 players with video recording access and a 150 pack of sculpting clay.
This project expired on April 20, 2016.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
In my classroom, our day begins with conversation between students and teacher. In order for the learning environment to be special and to build relationships, I believe my students must be allowed to start their day talking and building those social skills and friendships.
My fifth grade students are special children with many obstacles to overcome.
Their parents are working late and they are taking care of their small brothers and sisters. My kids are fun loving and very social with many skills and a love of music. The school is amazing, with a great administration. Our school is Title One and many of our students are on free or reduced lunch/breakfast.
I have 28 students in my class with a variety of learning levels and skills. My students will use these MP3 players in a variety of ways. The higher level students will use them during project based learning, while the lower level students will use them to promote and encourage reading. My bilingual students will use them to learn English at a faster level. The sculpting clay will be used to transform social studies and reading into 3D art to promote comprehension and excitement all year long.
My main focus for my students is to instill a love of learning.
With these materials, I believe they will have a creative avenue that will make learning fun. Through the use of the MP3 video recording device they will be able to prepare presentations with their partners that the class will be able to enjoy and they will love developing higher level questions for their peers to answer in "interview" type styles. They will learn the importance of being a confident and skilled presenters.
