My accelerated 3rd graders are learning to express themselves, connect with others and the world around them, and make discoveries, all through the use of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). As a STEM school, we integrate these five core ideas into each and every one of our lessons.
My students enjoy doing research, creating posters, and giving presentations on a variety of subjects.
They are a creative group of kids who are always asking questions beyond the basic knowledge provided in the textbooks. It is always exciting to see the discoveries they will make as they learn and mature.
My Project
My students are highly gifted and often get bored with written assignments. Allowing them to use different writing materials increases engagement and allows them to feel that they are in control of the learning process. Recently, I have been allowing them to use pens, pencils, and gel pens and their desire to participate in writing assignments has doubled. They constantly ask me if they can use the gel pens for all written assignments; however, the pens we have are quickly running low on ink. Students will be able to use these materials to make posters, fill in worksheets, and complete project designs.
