Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students are economically disadvantaged and attend a title 1 school. I also have some students who are autistic, ADHD and have other special needs that can be physically accommodating through flexible seating. Studies show that different seating options can enhance children’s learning environment and entice them to further their education. Some times siting I’m regular chairs brings more anxiety for students and it can be a little boring. Giving them this choice is giving them a little bit freedom and independence. Having a comfortable place to work and learn creates students who are happy and excited about attending school!
My Project
As adults we get to choose where to sit and eat, where to sit and chat, and where to sit and relax... Why don’t we give the same choice to our students when it comes to learning? My name is Nina Aguirre and I would like to incorporate differentiated seating in my classroom because I want my students to feel comfortable and be more engaged when it come to learning in my class.
In my class, I teach my kids to listen to their body and find a place in the class where they know they will be focused and ready to learn.
With your help I can accommodate my students’ physicals needs by providing them with more seating options. Not only will my students be more engaged in the material I’m teaching, but it would also help enhance my students educational experiences.
