Differentiated Reading Instruction at Students' Fingertips

My students need Fire 7 tablets and a charging station for Guided Reading. These will serve as a quick access to reading material on their differentiated instructional level.

My Students

This school year, I have been blessed with a very enthusiastic bunch of fifth graders who are eager to learn. The only thing that seems to stand in their way is the label of being economically challenged. Not having the proper finances, often keeps my students from having proper or sufficient class materials, money for field trips and sometimes it even prevents them from having the proper reading or class materials to take home to complete assignments.

My scholars have a passion for knowledge, and a desire to be educated and independent as 21st Century Learners!

My Project

Due to lack of funding and economic resources, the book room in our school is null, void, tedious and time-consuming. Teachers have to find the time to go to the library, check out books, monitor the care of the books and keep up with the books. The upsetting part of this whole process is that most of the time we can't find titles on our students' level or titles that peak their interest.

With Fire 7 tablets and a charging station, my students will have a plethora of books that spark their interest.

My students who are very technologically savvy will get the chance to learn how to interact with text on their reading level, using what they love most: TECHNOLOGY. Using the tablets will make it easier for me to locate material they are interested in. It will also be easier to locate the material on their level that includes their individual reading skills they need to practice. Once again children will be excited to read.
