My class consists of twenty-four eager learners who are excited to be at school. I teach at a Title I school in Illinois where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
I want my students to strive to become lifelong learners.
My students enter my classroom from various economic backgrounds and are at varied ability levels. Even though they are at various ability levels, they are all eager to learn and love to use technology to do so. It is my goal to provide them with every opportunity to be successful in third grade.
My Project
When there is a classroom full of a wide range of learners, you must have small group instruction and differentiation. Teaching one concept to a whole class of students at different levels creates an environment of disengaged learners.
Small group instruction provides students the ability to focus on learning at their level and achieve success.
With the use of Chromebooks, I will be able to work with a portion of my class on a specific Math concept while the other part of the class will work on Math intervention on the Chromebooks. This will help students focus on their learning objectives and provides targeted skill lessons.
Students will utilize the Chromebooks during small group instruction to 'grow' their mathematics comprehension. Differentiated instruction, through the use of technology, enables students to recognize where they are at and focus on progressing from there.
