Differentiated Instruction

Help me give my students a variety of classroom materials to better suit their learning styles! Students in my classroom receive differentiated instruction to better support them in being successful in their academics.

My Students

I teach in a multi-age classroom. My students range from 2nd-5th grade and have a variety of abilities. My students require support in academics and often face challenges when accessing the general education curriculum. My students require support in academics and need differentiated activities to better suit their learning styles.

Not one student is like the other.

Some students require additional support in reading while other individuals may require support in mathematic. In addition my students receive instruction in social skills to find the strategy that better supports them when presented with a conflict or challenge. All of my students learn and blossom at their own pace.

My Project

I chose CVC puzzles to better help my students in sounding out words. Many of my students require support in basic reading skills. By providing my students with manipulatives that require them to build words, their retention of academic concepts greatly increases.

In addition, I chose activities that support reading fluency and comprehension for the students of mine that show minimal difficulties in reading; however, require support when understanding a given text.

Mathematics activities were chosen to support place value and expanded notation (an area of difficulty for most of my students.

Lastly, after a hard days work, my students DESERVE a break. Kinesthetic sand is a great sensory activity for students to get creative or relax.
