My Students

My students are some of the most hardworking, enthusiastic, and compassionate kids that you will come across. They start each day with a positive attitude and are committed to working towards a good future. No matter what hardships they may face outside of the school day, they will always greet you with a smile and a hug.

Many of these students do not have access to a lot of books or learning materials outside of school, so they always take advantage of the opportunities they have in their classrooms, in the library, and with their teachers.

Some even spend their lunch and recess inside the library reading, learning how things work and adding to their understanding of the world around them. These kids never fail to shock me with their love of learning.

My Project

At our school, we are a community of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Our differences are what make us a wonderful family of learners and educators, but sometimes, our books don't reflect the populations in our classrooms. This project will allow us to purchase books that are celebrated for their depiction of various cultures, backgrounds, life experiences, and the accomplishments of people from all walks of life.

This project will ensure that over 500 students will have access to literature and learning materials that can act as windows and mirrors for our students.

In some books, they will see themselves and find a connection to their own lives, and in others, they will be exposed to new information through writing and pictures. Some of the books are non-fiction, some are fiction, and they vary in reading level and length to appeal to all readers Pre-K through 5th grade.

Your financial support will give our students a much needed outlet to learn about the world around them. These books will promote diversity, cultural understanding and harmony, and relationships between people in our community and out in the world. We so appreciate your consideration and support with this endeavor!
