My students need girls and boys die cuts and a die cutting machine, a body instant learning center, storage rack and other materials to help them learn about how their bodies function.
Science and social studies themes are embedded into our reading program. Because learning to read is such a priority in first grade, more time is devoted to that, and it seems that the science and social studies skills are just touched on. I want to be able to do more with my science curriculum.
I teach 17 learning-hungry first graders at a title one school in rural Alabama.
Their ability levels range from special needs to gifted learners. They enjoy learning about themselves and the world they live in. They are especially interested in science-related themes.
My Project
By providing my class with girls and boys die cuts, games, storage rack, and models, my students will have hands-on materials to enrich their learning. They will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the five senses, the body's organs, and the skeletal system by using three dimensional models and recreating two-dimensional models.
As students know more about their bodies, learning how to keep their bodies healthy will become more relevant.
I want to be able to provide my students with enriching activities that will allow them to gain an understanding of how the body works, and how they can help take care of their bodies.
