Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
So often, students need the have access to the use of hands on materials in order to help them understand a concept. With the use of geometric shapes that the students can build into 3D models, this will help cement the concepts for them!
Our school is made up primarily of second language learners in a low economic area in Southern California.
We have over 90% of our students on the free breakfast and lunch program. We have over 950 students on our campus and are constantly looking for ways to provide supplies for our students during these difficult economic times in education. With the help of individual donors and the Disneyland CREATE grant, we are hoping to supply some of these much needed supplies to our entire school.
My Project
Creating, performing, and participating in the visual arts is part of the California Visual and Performing Arts standards. It states, "Students apply artistic processes and skills, using a variety of media to communicate meaning and intent in original works of art." With the help of these die cuts, we will have access to art activities that will also lend themselves to math skills as well! We are hoping the Disneyland CREATE grant and individual donors will help us provide materials and supplies for over 950 students this school year.
Overall, these supplies will be used for years to come in order to help students have a hands-on experience with art as well as with math skills.
