My Students

My students are thriving young performing artists. They are exploring all aspects of performance from music literacy, character development, solo performance, and ensemble experiences. Performing arts experiences encourage collaboration.

Meeting students with 21st century, real-world learning opportunities is essential to providing relevance in a traditional performance ensemble.

I share this idea with my students often. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle.

Our school is in the heart of a community that supports education and knows its value. Students are motivated and engaged. Students are eager to learn; they embrace a challenging work environment and express the desire to be the best in all endeavors.

My Project

Incorporating digital learning activities post pandemic has enhanced instruction in the music classroom space. We are exploring music composition theory and history to garner deeper meaning to the music we learn. We are now one to one with computer distribution. In most music rooms there is a piano and choral risers. Regular tables are often very bulky and take up lots of space. The need to create their best music composition and music reflections is my goal. I would like to provide a place for my students to sit that is compact and comfortable.

The idea of a computer bar station will be a great way for students to take charge of their learning during digital instruction time, as well as independent work time when students can choose to work in a variety of locations!

When we are not engaged in singing as an ensemble, flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. The product that I have selected will provide students additional seating options without taking up a lot of space. Sitting on the choral risers in posture chairs should not be their only option.
