My Students
My students enter the classroom and start working immediately because they are used to my routines and they work rigorously throughout the entire class period. They have worked extremely hard to become eligible for Psychology and AP Psychology. At the end of the year, I want my students to not only pass the AP Exam, but have a new found passion for psychology and possibly even go to college to major in the subject area.
There are 21 students currently in AP Psychology, and 28 in Introduction to Psychology, and these students work tirelessly day in and day out to ensure that they have an understanding of the content area.
I am very passionate when it comes to Psychology since I have a degree in it, and it is a true blessing to see my students share that same drive and passion.
My Project
This is the first year that a Psychology class has been taught at my school and it's been extremely powerful to watch my students engage with this new and interesting material. We have finished the Abnormal Psychology unit and the Criminal Psychology unit, so we are going to dive in and see the connections between the two with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
My students need these novels so that they can truly understand how the treatment and care of the mentally ill has changed over the years.
Being able to use this novel to teach about behavioralism, clinical malpractice, and faking insanity would truly be a fun and interesting unit for the children.
