This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher in the South Bronx. The majority of the students where I teach receive free-lunch. The school is located in a neighborhood where a significant amount of the population is at or below poverty level. Many of my students families have difficulty providing their children with basic school supplies; such as pencils and notebooks. As part of English Language Arts, I would like my students to learn how to use a dictionary. However, at this time I do not have any in my classroom. Learning dictionary skills will provide them with the foundation they need to be successful with other aspects of reading and writing. By receiving this donation my students will have the ability to acquire new vocabulary and learn how to use a dictionary.
