My second grade students would greatly benefit from a set of take-home dictionaries. We currently have new vocabulary words to learn with each new story we read. If the student has a dictionary at home, he/she will be able to read and learn many more words to increase comprehension, fluency and word knowledge. I am a second grade regular education teacher who enjoys the challenge of teaching inclusion students in my classroom. I teach at a wonderful school where teaching and learning is always a priority. The students here are eager to learn and deserving of any teaching materials afforded to them. We have an instructional leader who has created an environment that is student centered. To summarize, for vocabulary enhancement, I would like a grant for 30 intermediate dictionaries for my students to used at home. I would like for my students to have this experience so they will become excellent readers.
