My students need to have access to and independently study from a current, readable dictionary written for students.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Juul's classroom raised $798
This project is fully funded
My students are eager to learn and need to widen their vocabularies from street lingo to a vocabulary that will get them into college and the world of employment.
I have never had dictionaries that are written for students; they have always been outdated versions written for college and beyond. The most current dictionary that has been provided by my department is from the 1960s - a lot has changed since then!
My students will use these dictionaries on a daily basis to learn new words and add meaning to the world around them. We will study spelling, definitions, etymology, roots, suffixes, and prefixes. All of which will make my students more prepared writers, readers, and communicators.
You will make it possible for my students to own words such "atrocious" instead of just "bad"; therefore, making them more intelligent, well-written, well-spoken members of our world community.
More than half of students from low‑income households
