This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fourth-grade students are a remarkable group of young learners who share a deep love for reading and discussing literature. They thrive when given the opportunity to engage with books that spark their imaginations and allow them to connect with relatable characters. Despite facing challenges with comprehension and reading at grade level, they show incredible perseverance and a desire to grow. This project seeks to bring the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series into our classroom, providing engaging, humorous, and relatable texts that can motivate and inspire them to strengthen their reading skills.

These books will help bridge the gap for students who find reading challenging, allowing them to build confidence and fluency.

The series also provides an excellent platform for teaching critical thinking and comprehension strategies.

This will help me...

- To foster a love of reading by providing high-interest books that students are excited to read.

- To improve reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills through guided discussions and activities.

- To build confidence in students who may struggle with grade-level texts, empowering them to persevere and grow.

- To create a collaborative and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and insights.

My students are not only passionate readers but also thoughtful and reflective learners. They bring unique perspectives to every discussion and demonstrate an inspiring level of determination when faced with new challenges. They support each other, celebrate each other’s successes, and are always eager to grow. Their resilience and positive attitudes make our classroom a place of curiosity and collaboration. With these books, I know they will rise to the challenge, finding joy in reading and confidence in their abilities.

Thank you for supporting our classroom journey!
