My Project

The WESD has an expansive plan to launch Computer Science opportunities in its district. First to D. Middle school and then to the WESD district. On December 8, 2023 D. School will host a “Computer Science Exciting Exploration!” event for all students highlighting the WESD After School Academies (ASA) programs. Students, families and many support staff will meet in the cafeteria where 40 rotating computer stations will be set up for Hour of Code activities. This incredibly cool event will have several, super fun GenTechs on hand to promote the Spring Program.

During the Spring and Summer, we will collaborate with GenTech to utilize the 3D printers to design and fabricate accessories and extensions for their coded Spheros and Hummingbird kit projects.

Students will use these tools to build long term, expandable projects to meet the differentiated needs of our students. The projects will align to Arizona standards while preparing students for the AASA state testing.

Cardboard will used to prototype their projects prior to designing in the CAD software for their 3D extensions that will connect to their Spheros and Hummingbird kits.

Peg boards, bins, filament, and other tools will be used in the commission of the project lessons and storing materials in the classroom blend for the extended program.
