Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in my class are affectionate, courageous, funny, and eager to learn. They come from many different backgrounds and speak different languages. All my students qualify for special education services.
Due to COVID-19, the learning situation isn't ideal for any student, but especially students with disabilities.
I work tirelessly to let my students know that I believe in them, and in turn, I want them to believe in themselves.
Having access to quality digital resources is a vital aspect of instruction and planning as we navigate a new way of learning. Our elementary school is in a low-income area of Chicago. In a Title I school, resources can, unfortunately, be scarce.
My classroom is accepting of all students and ability levels. We have a growth mindset and celebrate every achievement!
My Project
My students participate in reading groups daily. To make this practice effective, it is imperative that students are reading books on their level. Due to lack of funding and resources, my students don't have access to hard copies of books that they can read on their level. I am asking for leveled readers that are not only appealing to my students, but provide them with the perfect amount of challenge!
