Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us close the educational gap for my eager students! My diverse class lives in a low income neighborhood; many of my students did not have the opportunity to go to pre-school. With the high standards today for Kindergarten, it is difficult for students who did not attend pre-school to meet these standards. As their teacher I need to fill the gaps that my students come in with, and I need a lot of efficient materials to do so no time can be wasted in our class! With materials from this project they will develop their literacy skills in order to become successful life long learners and readers.
My students come to school excited to learn each and every day!
I am so excited to see their faces when they receive literacy centers from generous donors. My students will be so grateful for all the new learning materials we will have! With my students' enthusiasm and these new materials we can help close the educational gap for my students and for generations of students that will come into my classroom.
My Project
Kindergarten students need independent activities to work on while the teacher is meeting individual and small group needs of students. Students need engaging materials that help them develop their literacy skills.
With pressure for students to learn to read in Kindergarten; students lose out on learning through play.
Your donation will have provide materials that are developmentally appropriate and interactive so students develop social and motor skills. I selected blocks where students can build words. I selected rockets that students stack using letter sounds. I chose magnetic boards where students trace letters. These tools develop literacy, motor skills and social skill that are crucial for students to be successful at school and in their future careers.
You donation will also help buy science books students can listen to. This will help broaden their vocabulary. It will increase their motivation to read by exposing them books that interest them.
