Development Foundations

Help me give my students materials for our new self regulation room and motor stations for improving performance in the classroom.

My Project

As an occupational therapist, I believe in the importance of foundational skills for improving academics in the classroom. We have added spaces in our school to allow students time to regulate and work on foundational/developmental skills through core movement and strengthening, sensory processing exercises, and social emotional regulation.

Equipment and tools such as weighted balls, spinning chairs, stepping stones for balance and swings help us to work on core muscle strengthening, sensory regulation, and bilateral coordination.

These skills are important for ensuring our students are ready to participate and perform in the classroom.

I love teaching my special educations students the importance of movement and regulation and watching them to feel better about themselves in the classroom. These tools will allow me to expand into various parts of the school building.
